Aldi reports Christmas sale of records

Aldi reported a 10.6% increase from the previous year in the four weeks ended December 24th.

As the UK faced lockdown restrictions, supermarkets saw more people see sales increase as they spend their time at home throughout the festive season.

Aldi is the fifth largest supermarket group in the UK. It reported a significant increase in alcohol sales, selling 4.5 million bottles of champagne, sparkling wine and Prosecco.

“We had a record Christmas with unprecedented demand for award-winning products as our customers pushed boats more than ever before,” said Chief Executive Giles Hurley.

Aldi aims to increase the number of stores from 900 to 1,200 by 2025 in the process of introducing delivery services during the lockdown. Delivery provision.

In the four weeks leading up to December 27th, consumers spent £11.7 billion on groceries. In the three months ended December 27th, grocery sales skyrocketed by 11.4%.
