The founder of Amazon Jeff Bezos has resigned as chief executive of a company he founded from the garage nearly 30 years ago.
Bezos, 57, said the decision would give him “time and energy” to focus on other initiatives.
The world’s wealthiest man will be replaced by Andy Jassy, who heads Amazon Web Services, the company’s cloud computing unit.
In an email sent to the company’s workforce, Bezos announced the transition and gathered behind his successor.
