Antofagasta shares the meeting to commit the copper mark to “responsible mining”

The FTSE 100 lists the mining blue chips for Antofagasta (LON:ANTO) and watched the stock rally during trading Monday morning.

The Centinela and Zaldívar projects are evaluated against the copper mark assurance framework. The company is designed to demonstrate its industry’s responsible production practices and contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It adds it:

“The Copper Mark goes beyond compliance and focuses on continuous improvement in responsible production.”

To grant the copper mark, Antofagasta’s business must adhere to 32 standards within two years of stating its commitment to protecting the framework. The company says these standards are “relevant to issues important to all stakeholders,” including greenhouse gas emissions, safety and health, tailing management, biodiversity, business integrity, gender equality and human rights.

If a company is given a copper mark, its status will be reviewed every three years through an independent review of compliance.

Speaking about the announcement, CEO Iván Arriagada said: The application of the copper mark is a voluntary process where external independent entities confirm our sustainability practices and show whether there are aspects that need to be improved. ”

René Aguilar, vice-chairman of corporate affairs and sustainability, added: We are working to become a sustainability leader in the industry, and the copper mark is an even more important step on this journey. ”

Following the news, Antofagasta sharing has increased by around 3% to 1,160.00p. This is the company’s height since the start of the year, but the analyst’s target price is over 20% above 917.69pa shares.

Analysts currently have a “hold” consensus stance on equities. AP/E ratio of 34.22. A 71.91% “underperformance” rating from the market beat community.
