Job disability is at record highs as the labor market continues to recover robustly, official figures reveal.
In the three months leading up to July, the number of vacant rooms reached 953,000, the National Bureau of Statistics (ONS) said.

During the same period, the unemployment rate fell to 4.7%, as average wages annual growth was 7.4%.
Prime Minister Rishi Snack said: “The numbers today show that our work plans are at work. We’ll save people’s jobs and bring people back to work.”
“I still know there’s a chance that I’ll hit the road, but the data is promising. I now have more employees paying than I have ever been in March 2020.
The number of people in employment rose again from 182,000 to 28.9m in July, but remained below pre-pandemic levels. As the economy recovered, employment vacancy between May and July rose to a record high of 168,000 more than before the pandemic.
“We are accused of economic statistics at ONS,” said Jonathan Atow.
“The number of pay has risen strongly again, growing more than half a million people over the past three months, regaining about five-fifths of the fall seen at the start of the pandemic.”
However, experts were cautious, saying they proved there was a surge in layoffs as the Furlough scheme ended.
Martin Beck, Senior Economic Advisor at the EY Items Club, said: From inactivity to asking for work, hence it is picked up again by numbers. ”
“However, once the Furlough scheme closes in September, the risk of a serious increase in unemployment appears to be low.”
