The UK can now seek alternative arrangements
After news came out that Joe Biden and Boris Johnson had discussed the issue, Britain’s hopes for a post-Brexit trade deal with the United States appears to have faded.
This is an issue highlighted as an important selling point for Brexit by Johnson, as it represented the UK’s newfound freedom from the EU.

However, sources close to discussion seem to think there is little prospect of the deal right now, especially with Biden’s other priorities.
When asked for an update from the UN on the issue, Johnson said, “We’re moving as fast as possible,” but did not confirm whether the deal would take place before 2024.
Now, it suggests that the UK is looking at alternative options, including participating in the US-Canada Mexican trade agreement, instead of attacking a bilateral agreement with Washington.
A senior government source said: “There are many different ways to do this. The question is whether the US administration is ready. The ball is in the US courts. It takes two to the tango.”
Biden also clarified the view that Northern Ireland’s peace is guaranteed to be unquestionable as a result of post-Brexit tensions.
“I feel very strongly,” he said. “We have spent a huge amount of time and effort in the United States. It’s a major partisan effort, and I don’t want to see many of my Republican colleagues change in the Irish agreement.”
