LIDL posts 18% revenue growth and record sales

Lidl revealed a 18% jump in revenue and record sales for the four weeks ending December 27th.

Sales spiked over Christmas, as discount supermarkets sold 7,000 mulled wine and 17,000 deluxe minced pies per hour, resulting in an average basket size rising nearly 25% year-on-year.

Lidl GB CEO Christian Härtnagel said:

Lidl will open four new stores nationwide, creating 120 jobs. The supermarket plans to set up 1,000 stores by 2023.
