Speaking at the Commons on Monday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the UK government has notified WHO about new tensions in the Covid virus spreading across southeast England.
This new Covid strain, discovered by Porton Down Laboratory Scientists, is currently not considered more serious than previously known variants. Hancock added that it is “highly unlikely” that new strains will add complications to the NHS vaccine rollout program launched last week.
The Health Secretary said: “The initial analysis suggests that this variant is growing faster than its existing variance. Currently, the variant has identified more than 1,000 cases in the variant, mainly in the southern part of the south. However, cases have been identified in nearly 60 local government areas, and the number is rapidly increasing.”
Health experts have been roughly consensus so far – mutations are predicted, natural and not necessarily to worry. In fact, virologists have already considered at least 40 variants of the covid virus, and although this strain appears to link with a faster spread rate, there is no suggestion that it is increasing in potency.
Fergus Walsh of BBC Medical Editor commented: And Matt Hancock said there is no evidence of that at this time. ”
“Also, there are three vaccines we have (and we know that we are currently effective) — nothing suggests that variants will reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine. .”
“Nothing is panic now, but it’s absolutely right that geneticists from Portondown and elsewhere do all the due diligence and see this.”
“It sounds very scary right away, but I don’t think there’s anything to be overly vigilant.”
We shouldn’t be terrified following the announcement of new COVID tensions, but likewise we cannot afford to be as satisfied. Indeed, the WHO said the mutation could be the result of the virus’s adaptation to its environment.
Again, the organization said that. “The successful variant selection process is called “virus selection,” and this is the natural process through which all viruses pass. ”
