Catering and hospitality jobs increased by 58% from the average of 10% in February 2020

The number of new job offers is rapidly increasing as the UK finds a way out of the pandemic.

The office said Thursday that it reached its job listings in February 2020 before the start of the pandemic and when lockdown restrictions were first introduced.

Some of the biggest increases came from the legal and hospitality industries, but vacancy increased in 16 of the 28 industries counted. The report by ONS used data collected by Jobs Ads Adzuna’s search engine.

Catering and hospitality jobs in February 2020 increased by 58% from the average 10% as the industry hired prior to reopening.

Since April 12, “non-essential” retail stores have reopened, and outdoor operations at hospitality venues such as pubs, restaurants and cafes have also resumed.

The ONS report estimated earlier this week that UK dinner reservations were around 79% of the level seen two years ago.

“We’ve seen significant changes in the number of companies that are booking and trying to hold events over the past few weeks,” said Jo Ferreday, managing director of hospitality and events company Sheer Edge.

“As the economy is beginning to open up and many hospitality businesses are starting to hire staff, we can run around when things come back to normal in the not too distant future.”

Data released on Thursday by Morgan McKinley and separately implemented shows that financial vacancy in London has increased by 70% as confidence grows.

However, while some sectors saw an increase in job openings, many saw a decline. The travel and tourism list fell 84% from 16% of the level in February 2020.

The international travel and indoor hospitality sector is patiently waiting until May 17th to see if related restrictions will be lifted.
