Sage reports an 8.5% increase in revenue to £1.6 billion.

The software company also considered subscription growth to £1.1 billion, up 20.5%.

Operating income fell 3.7% from £391 million from £46 million for the year ended September 30, 2020.

The increase in revenue was largely due to the increased demand and number of new customers in Northern Europe and North America.

Chief Executive Steve Hare said: “We achieved strong performance in 2020 and have repeatedly achieved revenue growth in line with the guidance we gave at the beginning of the year despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

“During this period, we would like to thank all of our colleagues and partners for our continued commitment to our customers, our community and each other, and we have made strategic progress in realising our commitment to our customers, our colleagues and our innovation.

“While the short term remains uncertain, these foundations position us well to support our customers in adopting digital business models and we are confident that additional investments in Sage Business Cloud, particularly in cloud-native solutions, will lead to stronger growth and drive the Group’s future success,” he added.

Sage looks forward to it and expects revenue growth to be in the region next year between 3% and 5%, weighted later this year.

The group plans to invest more in the cloud business.
