Orders for new aircraft reached a record drop in September.

No new orders were placed in September, with only 13 orders placed throughout the quarter. This is a 91.4% decrease compared to last year’s same time period.

I had four orders in July, but nine in August. It’s been three worst months since the record began.

Paul Everitt, CEO of ADS, said: “The aerospace and aviation industries invest in robust health and safety measures as part of aircraft design, making them extremely low risk of infection when they are equipped with aircraft.

“We need to continue working together internationally to improve consumer confidence and encourage return to the sky.

“The quarantine periods that passengers face when they return home can play a major role in reducing this as one of the main barriers to UK aviation recovery and testing.

“The government needs to implement the testing regime quickly so that it can shorten the 14-day quarantine period. This will help improve trust among travelers and guide the aviation and aerospace sector on the path to recovery.”

The minister said he is considering reducing the UK’s quarantine period from 14 to 10 days to a week.

Stocks of the airline group have plummeted for more than 2020 as the sector was hit by travel restrictions and travel decline amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Unite estimated that 12,000 jobs were lost in the sector in June, supporting around 110,000 people.
