UK gas prices surged on Wednesday, reaching record highs.
As a result, factories may be forced to close while households are likely to face higher bills.
Vladimir Putin says Russia, Europe’s largest supplier of gas, will ease the crisis it faces. This has resulted in prices falling from highs from 350p per heat.
Danni Hewson of AJ Bell Financial Analyst commented on the rise in gas prices:
“Even at current prices, some energy-rising sectors struggle to operate as normal over the winter, and those that can continue to run normally find ways to push costs through the system It needs to be.”
