As of September 19, Jobs Recovery Tracker showed that there was a 1.9m active job ad in the UK.

Danni Hewson of AJ Bell Financial Analyst commented on the end of the coronavirus job retention scheme.

“There will be many employers who hope Friday will bring the expected workforce flood back to the market, but in reality, people who are still listed as listed at the last count I’m not sure the number of jobs is welcomed by their old ones.”

“We can speculate that certain sectors like travel cannot continue to pay all staff members stored in the book, but now those traffic lights are finally turned off, and travel is not. We’ll consider whether the winter sun might offer Bonanza.”

For them, Furlough’s end timing may provide a solution, as many recovering companies don’t want to lose skilled workers from folding.

“Christmas is fast approaching and names like Amazon, John Lewis and Next are already shaking to attract the temporary staff needed to maintain delivery through the very important Golden Quarter.”

“That may not be the solution the staff wanted, but by cutting it in a few hours, I hope that at least their career path is still in the right direction, and that sign-on bonuses and more. With perks like free food hanging like carrots, a few hours of cuts opens opportunities, at least in the short term.”
