British Airways owners, International Air Group ordered 53 new body planes from Boeing and Airbus, betting on continuing strong demand for long-haul flights.

On Friday, IAG announced orders for British Airways’ 32 Boeing 787-10 aircraft and 21 Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.

US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick welcomed the Boeing Aircraft contract on Thursday as the US and the UK announced a trade deal.

The IAG said travel demand was strong despite macroeconomic uncertainty. But it warned of the “recent softness” of economic tickets purchased by US holiday makers.
