Elon Musk, a billionaire investor who clashed with Donald Trump after being one of the closest allies in the US business, said he formed a new political party to fight the “one-party system” that is plaguing America.
Musk made the announcement on his social media platform X on Saturday. This followed Trump’s groundbreaking domestic policy bill that Tesla and SpaceX heads blasted to add American debt.
“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and grafts, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the American Party is formed to regain your freedom for you,” Musk wrote.
Musk did not provide any important details about the launch of his political venture, but initially suggested that he would target at least major parliamentary races. He had not shown that he would become a candidate for a political office.
“One way to do this is to focus laser focus on areas of just two or three Senate seats and 8-10 homes,” Musk wrote on X on Friday. “Given the thin legislative margins of razors, it is sufficient to serve as a decisive vote against controversial laws, ensuring they serve the true will of the people.”
The move comes after exploding into the American political scene last summer as Trump’s top donor and advisor, funding the President’s Victory 2024 campaign and holding voting operations in several battlefield districts, bringing the move to establish a new US party for Musk.
Musk then joined the Trump administration, joining as a senior adviser to the president, as a key official of so-called government efficiency, trying to find ways to save money in federal agencies.
However, Musk collapsed with Trump over the president’s “big, beautiful bill.” This, according to various independent forecasts, will only pay partially through new spending cuts, adding more than $30 to US debt over the next decade.
“Those who have campaigned on the promise of reducing spending but continue to vote for the biggest debt cap in history will see their faces on this poster in next year’s primary election,” Musk shows the image of Pinocchio last week with the word “liar” written on his face.

Musk on Friday voted for an audience on X and asked whether respondents wanted him to establish a new party, finding that 65.4% wanted a “American Party” while 34.6% were against it.
But what Musk can deploy is its own vast financial warbox to fund new parties, but such ventures will face a major obstacle in breaking through the grasp of American power held by Republicans and Democrats.
The “no-label” movement, which attempted to provide alternatives to Trump and Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election, has routinely failed efforts to establish third parties in the United States.
