Vladimir Putin said Iran has inherited Russia’s offer to cooperate in air defense, saying it is not covered by Moscow and Tehran, the strategic partnerships signed in January, and the anti-aircraft system is not covered.
Russian President Putin said in a televised interview later Wednesday that the agreement did not cover defense.
“We once suggested to an Iranian friend to work together on an anti-aircraft system, but our partners showed no great interest,” he said.
“As far as individual supplies are concerned, of course, we made them back then, but this has nothing to do with today’s crisis,” Putin added.
