European property: what can you get for £650,000?

Zoopla’s current estimates put the average property price in London at £654,925 in July 2019. But what if you could spend the same amount of money elsewhere in the world? Here’s how three cities across Europe could set you back around £650,000.

Milan, Italy

Located in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, Milan is one of the fashion capitals of the world. From the city’s famous Gothic Duomo towering over the city to the Abbey of Santa Maria delle Grazie, home to Leonardo da Vinici’s The Last Supper. Milan is a popular tourist destination that combines Italian history, art and culture with an international atmosphere.

But what about actually moving to the city permanently? According to current listings on Right Move, a three-bedroom apartment with a bright terrace in Milan costs €682,000. The apartment currently advertised at the above price is located to the west of the city of San Siro, close to metro, tram and bus stops and with good access to the centre.

The apartment itself has four rooms in a modern building and offers stunning panoramic views over the city.

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, attracts thousands of tourists every year to experience its nightlife, spas, culture and history for themselves. The city is divided by the Danube River, and the Chain Bridge connects the flat Pest with the hills of the Buda district.

According to property listings on Right Move, you can get a three-bedroom apartment in the center of Budapest for the equivalent of £648,000. The 155 square meter property is located on the third floor of an old classical building with elevator, built by the same architect as the Hungarian Opera House. One of the city’s most famous landmarks, the Hungarian Opera House, is directly opposite the apartment.

According to Right Move, €650,000 can get you a two-bedroom apartment just south of the city centre. Full of natural light, this apartment is located on one of the most visually appealing lanes in Amsterdam South.

The property is just a short walk from Amsterdam Zuid Station, which connects the area to Central Station. There are many elementary and junior high schools near the accommodation.

The apartment has wooden floors throughout, except for one of the bedrooms and the kitchen. It also retains some of the original stained glass features.
