India on Thursday “neutralised” Pakistani drone and missile attacks on military targets in the country’s north and west, saying the missile attacks had skirmished, bringing nuclear-armed neighbors closer to war.
“Pakistan has tried to involve many military targets in northern and western India,” the Indian Ministry of Defense said in a statement. “These have been neutralized,” he added.
The Ministry of Defense also said the Indian military had “targeted air defense radar and systems in many parts of Pakistan,” knocking out the air defense system in Lahore, Pakistan’s second largest city.
Earlier on Thursday, Pakistani military spokesman Ahmed Shoud Chaudhry said the country’s air defense had shot down 25 Indian drones near several cities.
He vowed that New Delhi would “heartfeat” for the barrage of the barrage, calling it “another blatant military act against Pakistan.”
India and Pakistan are facing the most serious crisis since 1999 after India launched airstrikes on neighbors on Wednesday in India-controlled militant attacks on tourists in Kashmir last month.
New Delhi tied the attack that killed 26 to Islamabad.
Chaudhry said the Israeli-made drones were defeated near at least nine Pakistani cities, including Karachi’s coastal metropolitan city, with over 20 million residents, and the city of the military headquarters parked in Rawalpindi. “This is a serious, serious provocation,” he said.
Both countries said fragments of these attacks have been recovered.
Christopher Clary, a professor at Albany University in New York, said: “This is a very serious allegation (by Pakistan) and signs showing old rules have been dumped through the window.”
“We’re in a dangerous time because there are no new rules written,” Clary said.
The attack killed 32 people and injured 61 people this week in Pakistan’s tolls. India said Pakistani troops “increased” control, the de facto border of Kashmir. Kashmir’s de facto border is ruled by both countries asserting and claiming that 16 civilians, including women and children.
International powers, including the US and the EU, are urging India and Pakistan to curb tensions to avoid breaching nuclear standoffs. US President Donald Trump also offered to mediate between sides.

The Indian government has not officially commented that it allegedly destroyed Pakistan and warned of alleged misinformation from Islamabad.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting with government officials on Thursday, “we will consider national preparations in light of recent developments on national security,” including strengthening civil defense mechanisms and ensuring security of critical infrastructure.
